Whitney Houston
Between 1984 and 1989, Whitney Houston rose to superstardom, becoming one of the best-selling artists of all time. Her self-titled debut album, Whitney Houston, was released in 1985 and spawned three #1 singles: “Saving All My Love for You,” “How Will I Know,” and “Greatest Love of All.” This massive success was followed by her sophomore album, Whitney, in 1987, which became the first album by a female artist to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200. It produced four additional #1 hits, including the iconic “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).” This period cemented her status as “The Voice.”
