Roxette
Before their global stardom, Swedish duo Roxette, comprised of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, had already established successful solo careers in their home country. They officially formed Roxette in 1986 and released their debut album, Pearls of Passion, which was a hit in Sweden. Their international breakthrough came with their second album, Look Sharp!, released in 1988. Thanks to an American exchange student who brought a copy home, the single “The Look” became a surprise smash, reaching #1 in the U.S. in 1989. This success was followed by another chart-topper, “Listen to Your Heart,” cementing their status as international pop superstars. 🎶
